KA970-O2 MICROBUBBLE DIFFUSER
 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS AND SAFETY GUIDE

BEFORE OPERATING YOUR OXYGEN DIFFUSER
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS

KeepAlive Diffusers  are the finest quality in the industry. A quality diffuser is extremely important.

Any lesser quality diffuser will produce larger bubbles and consume more oxygen.

Multiple diffusers can be used with one regulator to feed multiple livewells.

OPERATION

  1. The KA970 diffuser operates between 25 and 35 psi.
  2. Regulator supply pressure must never exceed 50 psi. KeepAlive regulators will provide up to 50 psi.
  3. Pressure the diffuser only when it is submerged.
  4. With the regulator and cylinder both in the “OFF” position, secure the hose securely to the regulator and diffuser. Use the plastic clamps provided with the hose to ensure a secure connection.
  5. Place the diffuser in a horizontal position to allow a maximum spread of bubbles when they rise vertically. To ensure maximum absorption  efficiency, allow the bubbles to rise without obstructions.
  6. Slowly open the cylinder to provide pressure to the regulator.
  7. If no oxygen leaks are heard and the pressure gauge on the regulator shows it is charged, turn the regulator on to the lowest setting and wait for the hose and diffuser to charge. It will take a minute or two for a small stream of bubbles to be seen coming from the ceramic diffuser.
  8. Use minimal amount of oxygen to maintain fish. A normal live well will operate using the lowest three settings of the regulator. Trial and error will determine the proper setting for you.
  9. When securing your diffuser and equipment, TURN YOUR CYLINDER OFF FIRST. With your regulator still open to allow oxygen to continue flowing, observe the pressure gauge as your system slowly bleeds down the pressure. When your system is completely depressurized, remove the diffuser, dry it off, and stow it in a protective place. The KeepAlive stowage bags are ideal for safe stowage of oxygen systems.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE

Store diffusers dry when not in use.

Avoid physical shock to your diffuser to prevent damage.

The only maintenance required is periodic cleaning to maintain an even flow of bubbles over the complete surface of the diffuser. If the amount of bubbles decreases over time, increase the regulator flow until such time the diffuser needs a general cleaning.

Recommended Cleaning Methods:

  1. Scrub with a brush and rinse to remove slime and deposits collected on the ceramic.
  2. If scrubbing fails to correct the problem, dry the diffuser and sand with 80 grit sandpaper.

SAFETY TIPS AND WARNINGS

1.  Never use oil or grease with this diffuser.
2.  Never use oxygen around or near an open flame.
3.  Never smoke in an area where oxygen is in use.
4.  Never use oxygen near boat bilges or where gasoline fumes may be present.
5.  Never use industrial oxygen from a cylinder without reducing the pressure through a regulator intended for that specific gas.
6.  Never force connections that do not fit properly.

7.  Never permit gases to suddenly enter your oxygen system.
8.  Refill cylinders slowly to prevent excessive heat build-up and possible damage to cylinders.
9.  Keep out of reach of children.
10. Always be sure that all fittings and threads are matched and properly approved for the gas intended.
11. Never use oxygen as a pressure source to clear an obstructed line or to operate pneumatic tools.
12. Always keep the oxygen cylinder secured.

DO NOT ALLOW THIS DIFFUSER TO TO BE CONTAMINATED WITH GREASE OR OIL

CAUTION: Oxygen is a non-flammable gas, however, the presence of oxygen will drastically increase the rate of heat and combustion. Inspect for traces of oil, grease or any other type of contamination, or connection damage before operating. Failure to comply with these safety precautions can result in personal injury or property damage. Do not proceed to use until all equipment and components are correct for safe oxygen use.
